Container transportations through ports of Ukraine Odessa and Ilyichevsk will increase in 2010.

Company management Port Consulting Gmbh, being simultaneously parent company for the operator of Odessa container terminal "GPC-UKRAINA", and group HHLA affiliated company, predicts in 2010 increase in container transportations through ports of Ukraine Odessa and Ilyichevsk, the RZHD-PARTNER informs.

According to their forecasts, following the results of 2009, sea container transportations through the given Ukrainian ports, will decrease in more than two times. However, with approach of New year, gradual lifting of sea transportations of cargoes in containers, at the expense of increase in volumes of export of production of an iron and steel industry and grain, and also import of consumer goods in container is expected. Also, the exit on the container market in the Odessa region of the third point of transit through Ukraine of containers and container cargoes - the container terminal private companies «TIS» is expected.

Companies Port Consulting Gmbh, considers, that in case of the justification of their forecast on restoration of a container stream through the Ukrainian ports Odessa and Ilyichevsk, transit of containers through Ukraine can rise by the end 2011 to 2 million TEU, and by the end of 2013 the turn of containers can increase to 3 million TEU.

As the company, fastest container ports considers, the turnover of goods will develop more promptly on the deep-water container terminal the TIS where transfer of container cargoes can increase from 10 % in 2010 to 30 % in 2015, at the expense of processing of containers from supersize vessels. Processing of container cargoes on Odessa and Ilyichevsk ports, will rise to proportionally container market and will reach also, to 30 % of a container turn of the Ukrainian ports.
