The Odessa container terminal TIS an overload of containers will begin in 2010.

In connection with recession in the container market of Ukraine, it has been decided to transfer work of the Odessa container terminal TIS on an overload not with container cargoes, and with grain crops.

The director of the container terminal A.Kuzmenko's TIS, in plans about terminal prospects has told, that a grain overload, the container terminal will be engaged before restoration of demand for container transportations. From the moment of increase in container transportations through Ukraine, the terminal will begin processing of sea vessels with containers, and grain will be shipped only at leisure from processing on the terminal of container vessels. The management of the container terminal hopes, that in the first quarter 2010 in Ukraine lifting of container transportations and the Odessa terminal TIS will begin, can start to work in the design mode.

For the inquiry. By the project of container terminal TIS it is provided, that capacity of the first turn will be equal to 0.43 million TEU with a container platform on 14 thousand TEU, and with connection of the second turn, the terminal should leave on the designed capacity in 2 million TEU a year with a platform for storage of containers in number of 40 thousand TEU. Also by the project it is provided, that the given container terminal can accept especially large vessels with containers with load-carrying capacity to 12 thousand TEU and length of the case to 350 m.
