Reduction on the international sea container transportations in 2009 more than on 10 % is expected.

Under the spent analysis of a current condition of sea container transportations the British consulting company Drewry Shipping Consultants Ltd. Has put forward the forecast, that following the results of 2009 in transportation of containers recession on more than 10 % is expected. Or if to list it in money’s worth linear carriers will lose more than 25 billion dollars. For comparison: last year their profit has made 5 billion dollars.

Also the company has noticed, that if the next two years the balance between offers of linear carriers and demand for container transportations cannot be leveled, then at carriers of container cargoes, there can be problems, up to reduction of workplaces.

The management of linear container carrier Maersk Line, in turn considers, that the conclusions given by consulting company Drewry Shipping about a condition of sea transportation of containers in the world even are underestimated a little as if to take results of first five months of work of container lines it is possible to predict recession of transportations, in general to 15 %.

Economists of other company - Nomura Holdings Inc., make more optimistically conclusion about a condition of transportations of container cargoes following the results of 2009. The company, in connection with the general condition of economic, predict falling of level of transportations, only to 3,4 %. According to the economists, practically all international container lines will be unprofitable and carriers of container cargoes are expected with losses, except for those companies which work on internal flights of China where small lifting on demand of transportations is expected.
